The High Sheriff of Greater Manchester’s Awards Ceremony

Volition was delighted to receive a certificate of recognition from The High Sherriff of Greater Manchester at his awards ceremony this week. We are honoured that The High Sherriff of Greater Manchester, Kui Man Gerry Yeung OBE DL, has taken such an interest in our work during his 12-month period of office.

Volition is successfully reaching out to and engaging with some of the most marginalised and disadvantaged sections of the Greater Manchester community by providing intensive support, training and mentoring to explore their needs, raise aspirations and increase experiences.

Gerry has visited Volition on a number of occasions, each time spending time with the volunteers and showing a real interest in people’s lives, aspirations and the opportunities and challenges they face. He has toured the various voluntary opportunities we have on offer within the Cathedral and was particularly fascinated by the beekeeping and hives kept on the Cathedral roof.

Volunteers and the Volition team also had a wonderful opportunity to attend a complimentary meal at one of Gerry’s restaurants in The Trafford Centre last December.

We would like to thank The High Sherriff for his sterling work throughout the year, his support for Volition and wish him a well-deserved break in 2018.”
