Volition participants visited Thompson Street Fire Station. Whilst there they learned about the different roles within the fire service along with how to prevent a fire in their own property’s.
They then had an opportunity to look around the fire station and what equipment a fire engine carries and for what purpose.
In the afternoon they all had a go at the cherry picker that is used to fight large scale fires in Greater Manchester one volunteer who was scared of heights eventually had a go and climbed up to 80ft.
They were then shown how to give CPR and had a go at it themselves.
