Volition Gardener

Marie has a background in Textile design and has studied Horticulture and Arboriculture. She now works as a gardener specialising in wild-life friendly design and has redesigned the flower beds at Manchester Cathedral to incorporate pollinator-friendly plants. These provide food for the Cathedral’s bee colony, expand biodiversity and inspire volunteers to consider careers in gardening. Including a greater range of plants will bring wider opportunities for unemployed volunteers to gain valuable Horticultural skills and create a green oasis in the city centre. Marie is committed to creating a Horticultural haven that will boost wellbeing for volunteers and visitors alike.
